Laura Swaan Wrede new Chief of the National Home Guard

On 30 September, Brigadier General Laura Swaan Wrede will take up office as new Chief of the National Home Guard and become Major General. Laura Swaan Wrede has had a long career in the Swedish Armed Forces, nationally as well as internationally. She currently holds the position as Deputy Chief of the Army.

Major General Stefan Sandborg will hand over the position as Chief of the Home Guard to move on to a new position as head within the new Defence Staff.

The Home Guard comprises various types of combat units and other activities with approximately 800 employees as well as 22 000 volunteers and conscripts. Force generation and development of the Home Guard is managed from the National Home Guard Department. The Home Guard comprises a combat school, four military regions with staffs and territorial units, regional training groups, 40 Home Guard battalions and 25 music corps.
