"I’m proud that Sweden has acted swiftly and with resolve in their support to Turkey. It feels good that the Strategic Airlift Capability unit has been able to carry out so many transports. Helping in difficult circumstances and in emergencies is what we do best", says Colonel Peder Söderström, Heavy Airlift Wing Commander.

The Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC), and the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) is a 30-year multinational cooperation programme that started in 2009. SAC is based in Pápa, Hungary, and operates three C-17 aircraft. SAC’s task is to transport military troops and equipment to support national, UN and EU missions and exercises, as well as humanitarian aid.
