Focus on Ukraine crisis during Almedalen Week

The military-strategic situation, the expansion of the Swedish defence and Russian warfare capability are some of the questions that will be discussed by the Swedish Armed Forces during the week in Almedalen. Supreme Commander Micael Bydén, Chief of Joint Operations Michael Claesson and Deputy Chief of the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service, Daniel Olsson, are some of the participants.

The Swedish election in September, a tense security policy situation due to the war in Ukraine and the Swedish NATO membership application are all matters that will significantly mark this year’s Almedalen Week. Chief of Communications and Public Affairs, Brigadier General Mats Ström, thinks that it is important that the Swedish Armed Forces participates during Almedalen Week. All the major players take part and this is a good opportunity to network and discuss matters of common interest.

”In times of unrest and with an ongoing war in Europe, a new security order and a future NATO membership, meeting and discussing current issues is paramount. Almedalen Week is an excellent platform for doing so”, says Mats Ström.
