”The deliveries are crucial for our capability enhancement and the defence of Sweden. With JAS 39 Gripen E, Swedish defence capability will increase and we will be able to build a stronger and, in every way, tactically superior air force”, says Commander Swedish Air Force Carl Johan Edström.

Saab has reached the delivery phase for fighter jet Gripen E and has demonstrated the first six serially manufactured aircraft. Four of them will be delivered to Brazil and the remaining two to the Swedish Armed Forces.

Gripen E differs from Gripen C/D in several ways. The E version has modernised sensors. The overall capability of the aircraft, including software, systems integration, weapons and electronic warfare systems will match and more or less outdo today’s fifth generation fighter jets.

“Gripen E is fuel efficient, easy to service and highly accessible. The aircraft can carry more missiles and bombs. With Gripen E we’ve created a problem for the opponent. We’re cutting-edge and simply more dangerous”, says Commander Swedish Air Force Johan Edström.
