Three Swedish soldiers slightly injured by roadside bomb in Mali

On Wednesday night, a Swedish patrol, part of the multinational Special Forces’ operation Task Force Takuba, hit a roadside bomb in eastern Mali. Three Swedish soldiers suffered minor injuries.

Two of the soldiers have returned to duty, while the third is under medical observation. All three have notified their next of kin.

Task Force Takuba is a multinational Special Forces’ operation. Sweden’s participation, together with other nations, is part of a long-term commitment aimed at ensuring a peaceful development in the country.

The Swedish troop contribution comprises of a helicopter-borne quick reaction force (QRF). The focus of the operation is to provide advice and assistance as well as to accompany the Malian security forces.
