Mateusz Szurmiej winner of the Utility Swim Race for Men

– I was a little bit nervous at start, but when I´m in the water I know that I am fast. But I did two mistakes; I grabbed the gun with the wrong hand and I hit the net under the barrel, Mateusz Szurmiej says.

The Polish man, living in Gdynia, has been in Naval Pentathlon since 2007. He holds the World Best Time, 55,4 sec, on the Utility Swim Race. He did it a year ago in World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro.

– I´m a fin-swimmer since long ago and I am fast in the water but I need to be better on the technique. I want to swim the course under 55 seconds, Mateusz Szurmiej ends with a smile.

Jörg Porschlöfer, from Germany, took the second place and Lars Ekman, from Sweden, came third.

Tomorrow awaits the Seamanship Race.
