Shooting arena in Boden now completed

On 11 September, a fairly well-known date, the last component for the forthcoming World Military Shooting Championships was delivered. It was the National Fortifications Administration led by Gunnar Andersson that handed over the symbolic key to Garrison Commander Jan Mörtberg.“I wish to thank all those involved and look forward to the coming competitions,” said Jan Mörtberg.

Boden Garrison previously had four shooting ranges at Rödberget, two of which have been adapted during spring and summer in preparation for the forthcoming World Military Shooting Championships.

The shooting ranges that were needed were for rifle 50 m and pistol 25 m. They have now been finished, which means that Boden shooting arena is ready for the World Championships. The arena that has been built will be used for other events and in the future for training conscripts. It is also adapted for the Armed Forces’ new training for overseas units.

After an extensive official report about the location, the final choice was Rödberget with its well-known Point 49, not far from the long-distance ranges which will also be used during the competitions.
“After much deliberation where the shooting arena should be built, it was decided to locate it to Rödberget, which has turned out to be a good decision,” said Jan Mörtberg.

One of Sweden's most attractive and modern shooting facilities is now complete and ready for the Swedish and overseas guests, as well as future conscript training.
