Chinese 1-2-3 in rapid fire pistol

The men’s individual rapid fire pistol event on the final day saw a Chinese grand slam. The medals were all won by the Chinese marksmen, all on high scores. In the women’s pistol event, it was again Zhanna Shapialevich from Belarus who won gold.

Zhanna in addition improved her own world record. Today’s new record is 592, three better than the record she set in the team event on Friday.

The men’s competition was won by Yadong Liu on 590 points, followed by Zheng Gao on 588 points. Third place was hotly contested. It required a shoot-off between Yongde Jin and Thierry Riedinger from France, which Yongde Jin won to make it a Chinese 1-2-3.

The best Swedish result was 571 points by Åke Stenlund, who finished 32nd out of 38 contestants.
