Cyber Commander Major General Pekkari from Sweden received Cyber Commander Lieutenant General Bonnemaison from France.
The commanders discussed the overall situation in Europe and the region, and shared valuable insights and experiences from previous operations. Both commanders are very satisfied after the meeting. The result from the meeting will enhance capability building and there are valuable insights to how the nations can contribute to NATO and EU. Several more activities have been planned for this and coming years.
"We have a lot to learn from the total defense strategy that is effectively integrated in Sweden” states Lieutenant General Bonnemaison. He adds : “It is particularly relevant to apply it in the cyber domain, where the vulnerabilities of one sector can thoroughly impact the others. The military and governmental ecosystems, civil societies and private sector businesses need to be similarly resilient to cyber and hybrid attacks, as well as to contribute to the overall preparedness of our nations".
"To share experiences as allies contributes to our common security in Europe and the Baltic Sea region” says Major General PEKKARI. He continues: ”The French experiences of integrating Cyber and Electronic Warfare are especially valuable with regards to current development within NATO".
Colonel Höglund highlights French methods of combining Cyber and Influence operations: "These experiences are valuable in the light of current development in our area of operations". He adds: "Cyber Defence of Critical Infrastructure is a challenge that we share with all our allies. We are very positive to the reaction and feedback we received from our French allies to our new unit and concept for this."
