The Swedish Armed Forces supports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Swedish Air Force transport resources are on their way to Rhodes to assist Swedish and other citizens to travel from Israel and Jordan, if the need arises. The decision was made following a request from the Swedish embassies in Tel Aviv and Amman.

"The situation in the region is extremely dire and it is difficult to assess how it will evolve. But in order to get a good situational awareness to use in the planning phase, we are in constant dialogue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our Nordic neighbouring countries and various partners", says Carl-Johan Edström, head of Operations Command at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters.

If and when a decision is made to go to Israel and Jordan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take lead of the operation, with the support of the Swedish Armed Forces.
