Somalia (EUTM Somalia)

The European Union Training Mission Somalia, (EUTM), was launched in April 2010. The purpose of the initiative is to contribute to the stabilisation of the security situation in Somalia in accordance with the 2008 Djibouti agreement.

The EUTM is set to train some 2,000 soldiers from the Somali government's security forces. The EU is training commandants, as well as specialists in various fields, for example medical services, communications, and demining. Uganda will be responsible for the soldiers' training.

Sweden is participating with a staff officer and seven instructors. Since 2014, the operation has been conducted from EU headquarters in Mogadishu.
