This is the first time a Swedish corvette has been part of NATO’s Standing Naval Force, SNMG1.
The main contribution Sweden brings to the force is the Navy’s unique ability to operate in the Baltic Sea’s complex environment. The specific water conditions, the uneven seabed, and the relatively shallow waters mean that the vessel’s highly trained crew and advanced equipment provide a valuable addition to the NATO force.
