Ukrainian Armed Forces acknowledges the value of support from SWEDINT

The Ukrainian cooperation with SWEDINT, aiming to NATO-certify the Drone Awareness Course (DWAC) – the fundamentals of combat use of unmanned systems – has been ongoing since 2024. Right now, work is underway to support the Ukrainian International Peace and Security Centre (IPSC) in becoming a NATO-accredited education and training centre. The value of SWEDINT's support has been acknowledged in a recent article by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukrainian combat experience in drone technology and tactics is leading in the field, and in November 2025, the Ukrainian team presented its experiences at an international seminar in Sweden, attended by representatives from NATO's top management and NATO analysts. This summer, the pilot course was held at SWEDINT with officers from more than 10 nations, with the result that DWAC now has the status of NATO Selected.

The DWAC is developed by Ukrainian officers.

“Supporting the IPSC's Drone Awareness course in becoming certified as NATO Selected is at the core of what SWEDINT is all about – increasing the warfighting capability of our allies and partners," says SWEDINT’s Commandant, Colonel Richard Gray. “We are committed to strengthening Allied institutional capacity and assisting the ISPC to become a fully NATO-accredited education and training facility is next on our agenda.”

The application of Ukrainian combat experience in international military training is an important area for Ukraine's cooperation with NATO countries. Recently delegations from Sweden and Finland visited IPSC and signed plans for further joint activities, including a mobile DWA`C training solution for the 1st Division.
