Changing of the Guard at Drottningholm Palace
There has been a royal guard at Drottningholm Palace since the royal family moved there in the early 1980s.

The guard watches over Drottningholm Palace around the clock, all year round. They have done so since the royal family moved there in 1981. Before that, the palace was only guarded when the family was in residence. The guard unit at Drottningholm Palace consists of about 25 people.
ROYAL GUARD IN FORMER PALACE STABLES
During the latter part of the 19th century, cavalry units and the infantry’s shooting school were stationed in barracks at Drottningholm Palace. The current quarters of the royal guard were originally the palace stables. The guard tent at the Chinese Pavilion was previously used by the royal guard.
