Diplomatic clearances

Diplomatic clearance is required for the admission into Swedish territory of foreign state craft and vehicles (aircraft, vessels or military vehicles) and for foreign military/civil visits to military units.

Admission into Swedish territory for state aircraft, state vessels and
military vehicles is regulated by § 5 and § 6 of the Admission
Ordinance (1992:118). For § 6 matters, decisions on admission are
made by the government, and for § 5 matters, decisions are made
by the Swedish Armed Forces at the request of the Swedish
Maritime Administration, the Swedish Coast Guard and Swedish
Customs.

Applications in respect of fighter planes, trainer aircraft, signals
intelligence aircraft, warships, military combat vehicles and training
activity should be made to the Swedish Armed Forces’ HQ (swaf-
diplo@mil.se).

PERSONNEL

Admission for foreign armed forces staff or visits by foreign civilians
to Swedish units requires authorisation in the form of a Request For
Visit (RFV).
Foreign citizens missions should direct their applications to swaf-
diplo@mil.se.

MANAGEMENT OF CLEARANCES

Issuing of clearances is the responsibility of the Swedish Armed
Forces' operational division's diplomatic clearance section at the
Joint Forces Command.
