The Swedish Armed Forces is a body subject to the Swedish Parliament and government. It is headed by the Supreme Commander who leads and supervises the Armed Forces through Armed Forces Headquarters.

The first agreement under the bilateral defense cooperation agreement between Sweden and the US (Defense Cooperation Agreement, DCA) was signed between US European Command (US EUCOM) and the Swedish Armed Forces within the infrastructure function, in Stockholm on June 3rd 2025. The agreement, a so-called Implementing Arrangement, is the first in a series of agreements that concretize the DCA agreement, which entered into force in 2024.

På utsatt tid och under högtidliga former kastade på torsdagen minröjningsfartyget HMS Ulvön inför anhöriga och gäster loss från Örlogshamnen i Karlskrona för att som första svenska örlogsfartyg under en längre tid ingå i ett av Natos stående förband. Besök USA i Kiruna. På berget Luossavaaras topp genomfördes en terrängorientering av Lapplandsjägargruppens chef, överstelöjtnant Martin Andersson. Deltagarna förevisades Kirunas gamla och nya centrum, gruvverksamheten och det omgivande landskapet med utsikt mot de svenska och norska fjällen. Orienteringen genomfördes i solsken och avslutades precis innan tunga regnmoln drev in över berget. I LKAB:s besöksgruva på 540 meters nivå hölls ett antal föredragningar, bland annat av Niklas Johansson, direktör för public affairs och externa relationer. Han tryckte på Malmbanans betydelse och begränsningar. Järnvägslinjens enkelspår och bristande underhåll hämmar idag såväl försörjningen av högkvalitativ järnmalm och möjligheten att utvinna kritiska mineral, som kapaciteten för militära transporter. På Kalixforsbasen förevisade Lapplandsjägargruppen och Lapplandsjägarbataljonen bandvagn, snöskoter, olika sensorsystem samt mörkerutrustning.

In August, logistics support leaders from the U.S. Department of Defense, along with a representative from the United Kingdom, visited Norway, Sweden, and Finland to gain a deeper understanding of the region’s geography, logistics, and Host Nation Support. For three days, Swedish Armed Forces personnel who work, or may become involved, in the area of reintegration received training. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA) from the USA and the Swedish Armed Forces Centre for Defence Medicine (Försvarsmedicincentrum). Reintegration constitutes part of the final phase of the Personnel Recovery (PR) system once isolated personnel have been rescued.
