Welcome to the Commanding Officer Seminar on Gender Perspective
September 18-20, 2018.

We are looking forward to see you at the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations (NCGM).

The first day we will provide you with background, terms and definitions in combination with practical examples on how gender perspective has been integrated into military operations. Aim is to discard the most common “myths” regarding working with gender perspective. The day is ending in the Officers Mess Hall where a Swedish buffet dinner is served.

The second day aims to highlight the important issue of operational effectiveness and an integrated gender perspective. Furthermore, Conflict Related Sexual and Gender-Based Violence will be highlighted. We will also discuss how the different gender functions (Gender Advisers and Gender Focal Points) can be used as a resource to Commanding Officers. After the seminar, dinner will be served at the Officers Mess Hall in the company of Subject Matter Experts within the area of Gender.

The third day gives, among other things, practical examples on how gender perspective has been integrated in the exercise VIKING 18.

For you to familiarise yourself with the work of NCGM, please watch this video (link here).

We hope that you, by the end of the course, will be able to bring back valuable ideas on how gender perspectives can be used by you in your daily work.
