Dear Participant of the Senior Women Talent Pipeline Course in February 2018

Congratulations on having been selected for the Senior Women Talent Pipeline (SWTP) and the upcoming course on UN peace operations which is to be held in Sweden on 19-23 February 2018. The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is proud to support this important initiative and to organise the course together with the United Nations Department of Field Support (DFS). We are grateful to the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT), which is hosting the course.

In order to make sure that your course experience will be as good and rewarding as possible, we have put together some pre-course information which will hopefully answer any questions that you may have (see documents on the right). Issues addressed include for example visa, transportation, dress requirements, insurance, communication, currency and meals. You will also find contact details here for SWEDINT. Importantly, the text provides guidance on two important forms – the Request for Visit and the Registration Form. It would be much appreciated if you could please fill in and submit the Registration Form as soon as possible but no later than 22 January. If you represent a government agency (e.g. the Armed Forces, the Police, a government ministry), you will also need to fill in the Request for Visit form. Please note that there is little time to spare as the Request for Visit form will need to be registered 21 days before the course starts.

A key aim of the course is to make you more informed about the context of UN peace operations in order to allow you to better perform any duties in senior field positions but also to make you aware of what such positions entail. This translates into a full course agenda in which many issues will be discussed. In order to make the best use of valuable time and ensure that the sessions are as beneficial to you as possible, we will on the website post recommended material to read before the course.

A very warm welcome to Sweden and the SWTP course! We look forward to meeting you and to what I am sure will be a most interesting and enriching exchange of experiences and expertise.

Yours sincerely,
