I congratulate you on being selected to participate in the Civil Military Relations Course (CMR). I can assure you that a well prepared and devoted team of instructors with international experience is looking forward to welcome you at the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT).
CMR requires a lot of attention. Do not bring your regular duties with you. As outlined in the application form, the official language will be English, both at lectures and during social events. You must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
During the course period, there will be an interaction between the participants from civilian-, police- and military organisations: This interaction between the students is a main key to success and the whole course relies heavily on this dialogue, which hopefully creates an understanding of the complexity in a Peace Support Operation based on personal networking that through formal lectures.
I would also like you to prepare to introduce yourself (<5 min), including your normal work and the organisation you are working for.
To ensure good course results, you are expected to take active part during the lectures and to socialize with other students also during the weekend arrangements, which are a part of the course as well.
Hopefully, the CMR will give you a good comprehension of what may be expected in a Peace Support Operation, so that you are better prepared to handle difficult and unexpected situations.
Last but not least: should you require a VISA for Sweden, you need to apply as soon as possible as is it the responsibility of the individual participants to arrange this.
Welcome to SWEDINT and CMR 1 2018.
Mr Fredrik Wallenberg
