The course staff, made up by the SWEDINT team and Finnish and Danish instructors, and supported by the Nordic Advisory Coordination Staff (NACS), is now in the final phase of planning for the upcoming United  Nation Military Component Planning Process Course (UNMCPP). The course will be conducted in Kenya at the Humanitarian Peace Support School in Embakasi, Nairobi, 29 February – 10 March with participants from EASF member states.

For the Course Director, Maj Thomas Gillman, it is sort of closing the loop as he was part of the team that was in Kenya in 2012 with the UN DPKO finalizing the Staff Officer Specialist Training Material (SO STM) on which the course is built. The team has also added parts of the latest United Nations Military Units Manuals (UN MUM) that were released last year.

The UNMCPP course will prepare the staff officers for assignments to UN multinational headquarters or in national contingents conducting Peace Support Operations on Brigade/Sector or Division/Force Headquarters level.
