Supreme commander visited China

The supreme commander Sverker Göranson has visited China on an invitation from the General Chen Bingde. The program focused on discussions on peacekeeping operations.

The visit, which lasted from19th to 23rd of March, was a return visit in regard to General Chen Bingde's visit in Sweden in 2011, and also a follow up of the previous supreme commander Håkan Syrén’s visit in 2008.

During the visit the supreme commander held a speech addressing the students at the National Defense University. He also participated in a bilateral meeting with General Chen Bingde, chief of staff, where among other things Chinas participation of the antipiracy operation in Gulf of Aden was discussed. The possibility of educating Chinese personnel at UN-accredited courses at Swedish Armed Forces International Center, SWEDINT, was also on the agenda.

The supreme commander also studied battle tactic steps at the Chinese artillery- and air defense units.
