IntPAO at SWEDINT

Sunday 15 May fifthteen students from nine different nations began studying at the International Public Affairs Officer Course (IntPAO) at SWEDINT, under the umbrella of NORDEFCO.

Students came this time from Bangladesh, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Philippines, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sweden, and Zambia with a mix of civilians and officers.  The instructors came from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

The course is a basic and generic course, with the aim to introduce the student to international staff methods, terminology, public affairs and media relations within a staff. It consists of a general presentation of the PAO duties at a multinational HQ, practising press releases, presenting statements, public affairs crisis management and conducting news conferences.

The purpose of the course is to prepare students for assignment as PAO in a multinational HQ’s led by the United Nations, NATO or any other organisation in the spirit of peace operations or peace support operations.
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to international staff methods, terminology, public affairs and media relations within a staff.

The course is conducted by lectures, syndicate works and case studies. The length of the course is one week.

This course provides a basic foundation for further education and work within the framework of the PA work. Further on the job training is still needed.
