The ceremonial opening of the 52nd World Military Aeronautical Pentathlon Championship took place Tuesday evening in pouring rain.

The weather conditions didn’t lessen the dignified atmosphere when the eight participating teams marched in while the Uppsala Home Guard Music Band played the CISM march.

When everyone had taken their places, the Colour Guards first hoisted the CISM flag and then the two Swedish flags while the Home Guard Music Band played the Swedish national anthem.

Brigadier General Jan-Gunnar Isberg held the opening speech. This was followed by the official representative of CISM, Colonel Ramón Madrid, who declared the Championship officially opened.
