Gender Advisor Train the Trainer Course

Course Purpose

The course will prepare instructors/trainers to plan and conduct for example pre deployment training and education for troops and officers on Gender Perspectives including the UNSCR's 1325 and 1820.

The course is two weeks and gives the students an in-depth knowledge on gender topics, providing them with the basics for designing training, both theoretical and practical, in a military/security organisation. The focus of the course is on ways of implementing Gender Perspectives, including UNSCR 1325 and related resolutions, in the daily practical life in the operational environment.

 

Learning Objectives


The main focus of the course will be on:
• knowledge, understanding and background of UNSCR's 1325 and 1820 and Gender Perspectives in operations,

• general orientations of experiences and Lessons Learned from previous operations using an integrated Gender Perspective,

• methods, policy and best practices regarding training and education on Gender Perspectives,

• practical training and case studies,

• the ability to create a constructive learning platform on Gender Perspectives for military/security personnel,

• understanding Gender Perspectives as an operational tool and an integrated part in the Operational Planning Process (OPP),

• Code of Conduct and SEA (Sexual Exploitation and Abuse),

• general knowledge about gender in relation to UN, EU, NATO and OSCE documents, policies and directives.
