The Armed Forces Photographic Bureau (AFPB) is the film and photograph database for the Armed Forces. The films and photographs are taken by employees of the Armed Forces, external photographers, the Armed Forces Photographic Bureau and Combat Camera. Organisationally the Photographic Bureau forms part of Combat Camera.
General conditions for use
All photographs in the Armed Forces Photographic Bureau are protected under copyright. Most of the photographs are supplied free of charge to the media and for non-commercial use, provided that the source is disclosed.
If there is any doubt about what constitutes non-commercial use, the Armed Forces Photographic Bureau must be contacted before photographs are used or published. An account must be applied for in order to gain access to the database. For certain photographs or purposes special financial conditions apply according to the Price-List of the Photograph Suppliers Association (BLF). An administrative cost may be charged for photographs and films in archives.
