Armed Forces Helicopter Wing

Helicopters are vital in enabling many different units in the Armed Forces to perform their various tasks. The Armed Forces Helicopter Wing is responsible for ensuring that individual helicopters or helicopter forces are supplied to the units at the right time, correctly equipped, no matter where and when a mission is to be carried out.

Helicopters are a major resource for civilian emergency rescue services. The Swedish government has therefore resolved that Armed Forces helicopters are to be used for air and sea rescue, as air ambulances and otherwise when civilian resources are not sufficient.

Right now the Wing is training a rapid response unit with both sea and land operation capabilities that should be capable of deployment with airborne battalions, submarine hunts and other duties. The Wing also has armed helicopter capabilities.
