Armed Forces Centre for Defence Medicine

‘Vita praeponitur’ – ‘Life foremost’ – is the motto of the Centre for Defence Medicine. The Swedish Armed Forces military medicine system is governed by the principle of respect for human values and the perception that every human being is irreplaceable. For FöMedC this means providing the Swedish Armed Forces with medical personnel who are equipped trained and prepared in such a way that physical and mental suffering can be minimised in the event of crisis or armed combat and through participation in international peace support operations.

FöMedC is organised to achieve these aims. The Centre’s staff include highly qualified healthcare personnel such as doctors, nurses and veterinary specialists as well as officers, reserve officers, civilians and national service personnel.

FöMedC possesses a substantial body of expertise in the development of physical nursing, psychiatric therapy and health protection as well as the development and procurement of medical equipment and medicines.
