The most important element of officer training is that focusing on the officer's core competencies, for example battlefield skills, the ability to lead armed combat and skills as an instructor. To be accepted for officer training, a candidate must have completed conscript training.
The various training activities of the Swedish Armed Forces are aimed at developing both leadership and specialist competence. Training take place at the Swedish Armed Forces' units, schools or centres and at the Swedish National Defence College.
